For five generations, the House of CAMUS has mastered traditional know- how to produce cognacs of incomparable aromatic quality. Guided by a passion for intensely aromatic eaux-de-vie, CAMUS puts its expertise to the test, creating unique cognacs that push the boundaries of their world’s classic codes. Today, CAMUS is proud to unveil its latest innovation: Port Cask Finish, the first ever port cask-finished cognac on the market. According to the long-established CAMUS cognac- making process, both distillation sequences were made in small 2,500-liter charentais copper pot stills. The eau-de-vie obtained was put down to age exclusively in small, slightly-toasted barrels, allowing it to interact harmoniously with the wood and to take on subtle oak notes. CAMUS Port Cask Finish Cognac is a “small batch” edition of only 3,000 bottles that has received a “finish” in old Tawny Port 220-liter casks. Smaller than the traditional “port pipe” or “butt” barrels of 400-liter capacity commonly used for port, these unhabitual casks were specially selected by our Cellar Master, Patrick Léger, for their great aromatic qualities. The finish has enriched the cognac with a huge array of flavors, textures and colors. On the palate, the CAMUS Port Cask Finish develops a very distinctive aromatic profile, offering sweet and spicy notes, reminiscent of nuts and wild berries, combined with subtle tannins. Its dark amber color shows extraordinary dark red glints.
The first Port Cask Finish in Cognac – Small Batch with a restricted yield of 3000 bottles
CAMUS PORT CASK FINISH is a Small Batch Cognac finished in old tawny port barrels and bottled at a higher strength of 42.6 %, enhancing its extra fruity aromas
As distinguishably as for the rest of the CAMUS range, the distillation of this Small Batch Cognac is carried out in small pot stills of 2,500 liters exclusively
All the wines used for this process are distilled with all their lees to impart a maximum concentration of aromas, while preserving freshness into the distillate
The result is a very distinctive aromatic profile: extremely rich in flavour with sweet and spicy notes recalling walnut and wild berries mixed with subtle tannins. Its dark amber color shows unusual dark red glints and its very smooth length on the palate brings a further dimension to the tasting experience
